Max-Planck-Institut für Gesellschaftsforschung: German-Argentinean Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Social Sciences
To promote scientific exchange between Germany and Argentina, the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG; Max-Planck-Institut für Gesellschaftsforschung, www.mpifg.de ) in Cologne is offering a one-year postdoctoral fellowship for a young Argentinean sociologist or political scientist. Tenure will extend from September to June; an extension through August is possible. Postdoctoral fellows are selected on the basis of an established record of excellence and of the closeness of their research interests to work at the MPIfG. While they are free to pursue an ongoing research project, they may also use their fellowship to study new developments in European social science and develop collaborative relationships with researchers in Germany and Europe at large. Fellowships will be awarded by the directors of the MPIfG.
Fellows will have an office at the Institute and access to the full range of its support services. They are expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Institute. Working languages at the MPIfG are German and English.
Inquiries may be directed to the MPIfG's Head of Administration, Juergen Lautwein, at lautwein.mail.mpifg.de. Applications should include a CV, two letters of recommendation, and a brief project description. They must be received (by email or post) by May 2, 2005, at two addresses:
